Mr. Vero started school at Lockdrest around when the door was made. He was told about it because it had formed in his room and he was given the responsibility to guard it. But even though he was told how dangerous it was and how important it was, he was a trouble maker and went into it.
In that world, he was stuck and petrified. It was only because he was able to transform into a weasel right when his body became encased in the metal that would hold him while monsters tore at his soul that he had survived. He had gained that ability by only drinking that transformation drink for years until his body and soul were able to change without thought. It was when he was released, he turned back to human and did a spirit ejection before his physical body became trapped again. Then, he was able to get a teacher who later helped him get his body out of that world.
After that had happened, Ricker left the school he hated because of what it had done. But after he left, other students found out about the door in his room, and they ended up dying. After hearing about that, Ricker had nonstop horrible dreams and decided to return to the school and protect everyone from the door like he was told to do since he was the only one to survive.
When he became a teacher, they changed him to the hall right above the room with the door. They did that so that no one would suspect the room having a teacher in it on that hall because it would be weird. He did not tell the student who came to occupy that room after many years, worried he would be like him and decide to go into the door if he knew about it. But instead, the student, Namu, went into it out of curiosity instead. And Mr. Vero hates that he didn’t warn him.
