Transformation Magick

Transformation magick is when something is transformed into something else.

Transformation magick can occur in various ways, but it typically involves symbol magick, spirit magick, or transformation drinks.

Someone can change out someone's looks briefly using transformation magick, but that person has to be very relaxed with some kind of tea or remedy and then need a visual guide, like art that is made by someone who has left a bit of that essence inside of the art. In order to do that, spirit magick is used to connect to the art, and then a piece of it is taken out. (*For example, when Molly was disguised in book one, Kren used a picture he had stolen from a magickal street artist.)

A human can use transformation drinks to turn into certain smaller animals, and when they use only that certain transformation drink enough, over many years, their soul adapts, and they are able to shift into that animal themselves. It can never be a bigger animal, though, than they are, or it may rip their soul apart. If someone does shift into an animal, they can stay that way for days if they don’t move or exert too much energy. Once the energy is done and their soul is too tired, they turn back.

More examples are:

Changing something’s color with spirit magick. For that, one has to expel some of their spiritual essences while expelling the spiritual essence of the thing they want to change with the rule ‘like calls to like.’ Then they scratch a finger on the part of themselves that has the color they want the object changed into and snap their finger after their essence and the other essence connects. This cannot be done with most living things for their essence will fight off the change most times.

Transformation magick can be used with memory magick and note magick to create changes, such as different terrains. However, this is complex to set up.

Transformation magick is strongest and easiest when using pieces of self. For example, one may transform their hair into a variety of things, like straw-like sticks, because it has the quality of straw or a likeness to be able to do that. But one needs to take that part away from the whole soul/body in order to do that, or it won’t last long at all. The soul can tell and will change back.

The same is true for spells to keep lips closed or even to plug eyes or noses. Those normally don’t last long because those changes are still on the body. Another problem when making these changes is that if someone can’t breathe long enough, their instinct kicks in and makes the incentive that breaks the spell break. For some, the body reacts and performs its own incentive out of fright.

Many times, if something has been changed with transformation magick, the object usually glimmers because the soul interacts with the magick unless one knows how to hide it better.

To detransform something, all one has to do is call to the essence. When connected, close one's fist to rush the bonds/disrupt, and then the transformation spell will fall away.

To detransform from an astral transformation spell, one only needs to tell oneself that one can. It is all about incentives. The mind floating may play tricks on the person under the spell, but if they think hard enough and begin to feel their physical selves and what it means to be physical, they can take themselves out of it.

Before, one had created fake metals using transformation magick. They had found a way to attach essence to similar objects that did not quite have the same types of elements needed to make certain metals. That caused a weakness in structures that were built, which caused disasters for the non-magickal world that the Magickal Society had to clean up. Now, creating fake metals is banned.

There have not been enough studies for creatures to be able to transform into humans. So far, only humans have been able to transform into creatures. There are a few theories about this. One is that humans are connected more to animals with their DNA than creatures are who are said to be made by other means, like how the gnomes were made by the Forbidden Tell. Or it is because humans are said to be more intelligent and are able to relate and connect with animals on a certain level. But there are many other theories that it is only because creatures don’t have access or privilege to the knowledge to be able to dig deep enough to figure out how to. The only study that has happened is when humans mix creatures together, which is typically out of sadistic entertainment and amusement. Possibly the best place to study how creatures could turn into humans would be in the Forbidden Tell, but that was locked away by the Magical Society ages ago.

We believe that because there is a deeper and darker form of transformation magick that had come from another realm within the Forbidden Tell. It is the magick that was used on the only two mini-trolls in the world. It is called Solid Transformation Magick. It is when a piece of one’s self is given in order to accomplish it. For Kren and Trennly, a witch gave her fingers, and that magick only works to make something or someone smaller unless that person performing it is willing to give up their life.
